Two Division K matches took place on Wednesday with a shock result seeing Chesterís lead at the top increase without the table toppers even playing a league match this week.

Preston North End (Myerscough) suffered a surprise 3-1 home defeat to AFC Fylde as they failed once again to gain ground on league leaders Chester.

This is only Prestonís second league defeat this season, but now leaves them ten points behind Chester in Division K.

For AFC Fylde they now leapfrog Preston North End (Myerscough) and go into second on 19 points after winning their sixth league match of the season.

The other Division K match saw Stockport County narrowly win 3-2 away at Crewe Alexandra.

After putting their awful 7-0 thrashing against Chester last week behind them, Stockport County now sit in third spot, level on points with second placed AFC Fylde, after moving above Preston North End (Myerscough) in the table.

For Crewe Alexandra, the defeat sees them remain in seventh place on nice points.

In the League Cup, Chester remain undefeated this season after a narrow 1-0 home victory over Division J side Gateshead.

An early goal scored by Chesterís Cain Noble just ten minutes in was enough for the home side to hold on in front of over 1,000 fans that attended the match.

Chester will now look forward to the League Cup Quarter Final draw which will take place at Wembley Stadium on Friday 9th February at 12:00.

Next week there are four Division K matches scheduled to take place, with the pick of the bunch seeing Chester travel to face second placed AFC Fylde.

Preston North End (Myerscough) will be looking to regain their form as they play at home against bottom of the table MMU.

The other two fixtures see Stockport County play at home against Hyde United and Crewe Alexandra travel to play against Stalybridge Celtic.

These fixtures are to be played on Wednesday 7th February.
