Four games survive as snow hits the UK

Despite the awful weather which has been causing severe disruption over the last few days, remarkably four games did take place on Wednesday.

A massive well done to those eight teams that braved the conditions.

In Division E, there were wins for Eastleigh Blues and Oxford City, while in Division H, Long Eaton United picked up maximum points and in Division K, Preston North End helped themselves to three points.

Eastleigh Blues beat Basingstoke 4-3, thanks to goals from Tom Bearwish, Lewis Harvey, Aaron Lobb and Lewis Waterfield. Basingstoke’s goals came from Kalum Cousins, Harry Long and Kyle Williams.

Meanwhile at Oxford, the home team defeated Andover Town 4-1. Again, four different players were on the scoresheet for Oxford – Tobias London, Hasnair Nadeem, Alex Pappas and Jamar Smith. Andover’s consolation came from Luke Lucas-Woods.

Long Eaton United benefited from moving their fixture to Basford United, as they defeated their “hosts” 5-2. Zak Goodson netted a hat-trick, with Steven Bonel and Ryan Wheatley also on target. Basford’s goals came from Patrick Shipton and Harry Wakefield.

There was also a hat-trick for Preston North End (Myerscough’s) Jake Unsworth as his team defeated Crewe Alexandra 6-0 in a game that was played in a blizzard at times. The other scorers for Preston were Sam Chatburn, Jamie Derbyshire and Jacob Treasure.

Hopefully, the weather will relent enough to enable all the clubs to return to playing fixtures during the week commencing Monday 5th March, but that is not looking likely!
